Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Tuesday reiterated support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and de-occupation strategy during her address at the second summit of the Crimea Platform, stressing “Crimea is Ukraine”.
It is a great honour for me to represent Georgia and the Georgian people at this summit. It is important to stand together to defend the values that unite us and which, I am sure, will define our common future. I want to confirm our support for your territorial integrity, sovereignty, and your de-occupation strategy. Crimea is Ukraine”, Zourabichvili said.
In her remarks, the Georgian President stressed Russia's aggression against Ukraine had not started in February, going back to the initial challenge around Crimea in 2014.
We must remember that unanswered challenges to peace and security, unanswered aggression against any country's territorial integrity lead to more instability”, she noted.
She also pointed out that the struggle of Ukraine was already “successful”, as the country had received an “unprecedented response” from the international community.
The Kremlin's aggression against its peaceful neighbours is a behaviour that Georgia has experienced many times. We know very well what it means to see your territories being conquered and occupied. We are very aware of the price your military and citizens are paying”, she told Ukrainian officials and citizens.
“On behalf of the people of Georgia, I want to express our admiration for your brave struggle and say that we firmly believe that this struggle will end in victory”, the Georgian President concluded.
We must stand together in defense of the values that unite us.

I remain strongly convinced that this anachronistic war will end soon and that Ukraine, standing on the right side of history, will emerge victorious.#CrimeaIsUkraine #CrimeanPlatform pic.twitter.com/HCy6BvM0Va
Set up by the Ukrainian President in August 2021 as an international consultation and coordination format to streamline Crimea-related issues, the platform involves work for practical approaches to draw attention to the situation in Crimea and discuss the possibilities for returning the peninsula to Ukraine's control.
