Georgian officials on Wednesday congratulated the Ukrainian nation on its Independence Day and vowed support for its sovereignty and territorial integrity amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
In his remarks over the date, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili said “Georgia stands in solidarity with Ukraine and supports its sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
“May the war end soon and Ukraine emerge stronger from this ordeal so that its people live in a free and prosperous country”, the top Georgian diplomat tweeted.

Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili stressed that Ukraine’s “exemplary” fight for freedom highlighted the “great value of independence”.
“We wish continued strength and bravery to the people of Ukraine to protect their homeland and ensure a peaceful and prosperous future”, Papuashvili said.

Parliament Vice Speaker Archil Talakvadze highlighted the “bravery and heroism” of the country and its people.
“Independence was tempered and defended by braveness and heroism of Ukraine and its people for many years. We assure the highest respect and support to Ukraine on the path to territorial integrity and peace”, he tweeted.

In his turn, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze wished the country at war “victory and peace”.
“Georgia and Ukraine have a great deal of common history in terms of the struggle for freedom and independence. We stand with you in this struggle”, Kaladze noted.
