Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Sunday highlighted the importance of the country’s energy independence by calling energy “one of the main foundations” of state independence.
We know that the energy is one of the main foundations of our independence. If we are not independent in this respect, we cannot be independent at all”, Zourabichvili said.
In her remarks over the matter, Zourabichvili said the significance of energy independence clearly demonstrated “if we look at today's developments and the situation in Europe” amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Europe is forced to find alternative sources of energy at an accelerated pace, [so] we see how important this is for the preservation of freedom”, she concluded in her comments.
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Friday hailed the “strength in partnership” between Georgian and allied militaries, noting “peace and freedom only exist when you have noble partners” at the closing event of the Noble Partner multinational defence drills in Georgia.
Pawel Herczynski, the European Union’s newly appointed Ambassador to Georgia, on Monday presented his credentials to President Salome Zourabichvili, the Presidential Administration said.
