Georgia’s Anastasiia Gubanova claimed a gold medal at the 2023 European Figure Skating Championships in Espoo, Finland, becoming the European Champion in figure skating for the first time in Georgia’s history, the Sports Ministry said on Saturday.

Gubanova claimed the gold medal with 130.10 points in the tournament’s free skate, while also managing to score the top result among 29 competitors on Friday in the short programme with 69.81 points. She became the European Champion with a total score of 199.91 points.
This success has been “very important” for Georgian figure skating and the future of the Federation, Maka Giorgobiani, the President of Georgian Figure Skating Federation told the Public Broadcaster.
