Main areas of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan were discussed on Monday in an extended format meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and his Uzbek counterpart Abdulla Aripov.

The meeting highlighted “close”, “friendly” and “partnerly” relations between the two countries, the Government Administration said.

Garibashvili thanked the visiting official for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, as well as the policy of non-recognition of the Russian-occupied territories of the country.

The officials reviewed the economic cooperation between their states and investment opportunities, noting their status as “stable” trade partners and further potential for the ties.

Following the meeting in an extended format, the Government heads signed the 2023-2024 action plan of joint practical measures for the development of bilateral cooperation.

The chambers of commerce and industry of both countries also signed a deal on the establishment of the Georgia-Uzbekistan Business Council.
