PM-chaired Investors Council meeting reviews prospects, challenges for investment in Georgia

Prospects of investments in Georgia and solving existing challenges were discussed on Friday at a meeting of the Investors Council, chaired by the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili. 

The meeting focused on the current and planned “large economic projects” being worked on by the Government’s economic team, while Mark Clayton, the United Kingdom Ambassador to Georgia, and Catarina Bjorlin Hansen, the Regional Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the Caucasus, also made remarks.

Garibashvili noted his cabinet was “actively” working to improve the investment environment in the country and welcomed support of international partners in the process, the Government Administration said.

 

He also stressed the Government had made a “significant” progress in strengthening the country’s economy, and pointed out the figures achieved in the economic progress were “historic”.

Participants of the meeting also reviewed promotion of international trade and stimulation of development of the renewable energy sector in Georgia, in addition to involvement of the Council in ongoing reforms for its European Union integration.
