Georgian PM hosts Uzbek counterpart in country’s Black Sea Adjara region

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday hosted his Uzbek counterpart Abdulla Aripov in Georgia’s western Black Sea region of Adjara.

The officials discussed the current relations and the future prospects of cooperation between two countries at a business dinner, held in honour of the visiting official and his delegation, the Government Administration said.

Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili and Tornike Rijvadze, the Chairman of the regional Adjara Government, as well as Guram Guramishvili, the Deputy Economy Minister and Alex Akhvlediani, the Director of the Marine Transportation Agency accompanied the visiting delegation at Batumi and Poti sea ports.

The Uzbek delegation got acquainted with the infrastructure and performance of Batumi port as well as the project initiative of a deep-sea port in Anaklia, with Georgian officials briefing them on current and anticipated projects in the sector.

Following the meetings in one-on-one and extended formats on Monday, an Action Plan for the Mutual Practical Development of Bilateral Cooperation by and between Georgia and Republic of Uzbekistan in 2023-2024 was signed by the officials.
