The Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Thursday said her Government was supporting the efforts of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia to become members of the European Union.
In her remarks ahead of the European Political Community Summit in Moldova’s capital city of Chișinău, Meloni stressed the accession of the three countries to the EU meant their “return” to Europe.
She contrasted the theme of seeing the states rejoin the European space with the viewpoint of the “enlargement” of the bloc.
Italy’s first female Prime Minister also highlighted the bloc’s support for Ukraine in its war against the ongoing Russian invasion, by saying “we will help them whenever it is necessary”.
