Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday highlighted the importance of maintaining a “high-level dialogue” in achieving the European Union candidacy for the country.
Garibashvili made the comment as he is featuring in the European Political Community Summit in Moldova’s capital city of Chișinău.

In a social media message, he said the event was an “excellent opportunity” for the country to participate in discussions with its European partners.
“In light of current geopolitical challenges, maintaining high-level dialogue is important for Georgia in achieving the European Union candidacy!” the Government head said.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday attended the opening ceremony of the second European Political Community Summit in Chișinău alongside 46 leaders of European countries and the European Union.
The Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Thursday said her Government was supporting the efforts of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia to become members of the European Union.
European Council President Charles Michel on Thursday said he was “absolutely convinced” that the future of Georgia was as part of the European Union “family”.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday said his country “deserved” the European Union membership candidate status and noted the outcome was “the only right decision that the European partners need to make”.
The “only correct political decision” in “this difficult geopolitical” situation will be to grant Georgia European Union membership candidate status, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili told the European leaders on Thursday at the European Political Community Summit in Moldova’s capital city of Chișinău. He noted his colleagues agreed that not granting the status to the country would be “another injustice and a big strategic mistake”.
Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Georgian Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Chair, on Wednesday said informing French partners on the country's implementation of the European Union conditions for granting it the membership candidate status later this year would be the focus of the visit of a Georgian Parliamentary delegation to Paris on Wednesday.
Pawel Herczynski, the European Union Ambassador to Georgia, on Wednesday said his personal opinion was that Georgia would receive the EU membership candidate status later this year.
