Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Georgian Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Chair, on Wednesday said informing French partners on the country's implementation of the European Union conditions for granting it the membership candidate status later this year would be the focus of the visit of a Georgian Parliamentary delegation to Paris on Wednesday.

In his remarks over the visit, Samkharadze noted the delegation, headed by the Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, would hold meetings in both the French Senate and National Assembly and with the officials of the country's Government.

The main goal and task of the visit is to inform our partners about how the 12 recommendations are being implemented, and what progress we have made. We will inform them on the challenges - including security and economic challenges - that Georgia faces”, Samkharadze said.

“We very much hope that this visit will be successful and after this visit, France will support Georgia even more clearly - first of all, in granting it the candidate status and starting negotiations on joining the European Union”, the Parliament official concluded.
