Georgia’s President Salome Zourabichvili will meet officials of the European Union in Brussels after departing for the official visit to the city on Monday, the President’s Administration said.
Zourabichvili is scheduled to meet with the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.
She will also address the European Parliament and make comments for international media.
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen has reaffirmed her support for Georgia's sovereignty following her meeting with President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the officials discussed the situation in Ukraine in the wake of Russia's ongoing military invasion of the country.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with the President of the European Council Charles Michel in Tbilisi earlier today. Garibashvili has stated that Michel’s visit ‘is a clear reiteration that our region has a strategic importance for the EU.’ He also said that the visit ‘demonstrates the strong support and partnership of the EU.’
President of the European Council Charles Michel has met with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili in Tbilisi earlier today and stated that his visit demonstrates the EU’s commitment to countries in the region, including Georgia. Michel is scheduled to meet with Georgian, Ukrainian and Moldovan leaders during his regional trip.
President of the European Council Charles Michel will visit Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine next week.
EU Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen has sent a letter to Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili in which she welcomed the wish of Zurabishvili to visit Brussels once the public health situation allows.
