A 1,750-metre-long zipline, the longest dual construction of the type in Europe, will be built on Chirukhi Mountain in the highlands of western Georgia’s Black Sea coastline region of Adjara.
The regional Ministry of Finance and Economy of Ajara on Tuesday said it had opened the tender for the construction of the ₾10 million ($3.92mln) infrastructure, set to be completed by the deadline of October 2024.
The body said the project would create a “new tourist attraction” in the country through the zipline, with its highest point set to be situated 2,496 metres above sea level.

It will also have an “eagle-shaped”, 10-metre-long station allowing visitors to see the “most beautiful panoramic views” of the Mountain.
Prepared by the Tourism Product Development Agency of the Adjara Tourism Department, the project also involves two stations for the zipline, with the lower station set to be perched 2,060 metres above sea level.

The lower station of the zipline will feature tourist infrastructure, recreation areas and food facilities.
Currently, Velocity 2 over Penrhyn Quarry in North Wales is considered Europe's longest zipline, with its 1.5 kilometres of distance.
