The Georgian government has been clear in its statements of support for Ukraine, while there has also been “generous” humanitarian support extended from Georgia to the country under the ongoing Russian invasion, United States Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan told reporters on Friday.
Georgia's statements at the United Nations, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe and other multilateral forums have been important manifestations of the country standing with the Euro-Atlantic community during the crisis, Degnan said.
Georgia on Wednesday voted on a United Nations General Assembly resolution to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, joining 140 other countries in the vote.
The resolution demands that the Russian Federation “immediately, completely and unconditionally” withdraw all of its military from the territory of Ukraine “within its internationally recognized borders.”
