Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and the United States Ambassador Kelly Degnan discussed the “clear and unambiguous” support for Ukraine by the Georgian government on the backdrop of the ongoing military invasion of the country by Russia, government administration said on Monday.

The meeting between the two officials discussed the armed conflict in Ukraine, with Garibashvili reaffirming solidarity with the Ukrainian people and stressing the invasion was absolutely unacceptable and violated the principles of international law.

Political support and humanitarian assistance from Georgia to Ukraine was pointed out at the meeting, the government office also said, with Degnan noting Georgia’s “clear and unambiguous” stance on the developments and adding the attitude merited “appreciation”.

The PM and the Ambassador also emphasised the importance of the unity of the international community against violations of European security and the principles of international law.
