Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili has condemned the beginning of the Russian military action on Ukraine earlier today, calling it “unacceptable” and expressing support for the country.
Garibashvili tweeted “We #StandWithUkraine. Military attack on sovereign country is unacceptable”, in response to the latest developments in the crisis over the country.

The PM has called on the international community to apply all possible measures “to stop blatant violation of international order by Russia and prevent further military escalation.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the beginning of Russia’s operation earlier on Thursday, following his recognition of independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine earlier this week.
Putin called on Ukrainian soldiers to “to lay down their arms” and pledged to “demilitarise and denationalise Ukraine.”
