Georgian FM, US ambassador review strategic partnership

Issues concerning the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States were discussed on Monday in a meeting between the Georgian foreign minister Ilia Darchiashvili and the United States ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan.

The meeting noted the “strong support” for Georgia from the US and the “readiness” for further deepening the strategic partnership in “all main directions”, the Georgian foreign office said.

In their overview of the areas for potential development of ties they noted defence and security, trade, economy and investment.

The officials also reviewed the security environment in the region, with Degnan reiterating the US support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
