Georgian police officers have arrested a man for sexual abuse of a minor in western Georgia’s Samegrelo region, local media outlet Interpressnews reported on Wednesday.
Media reports also said the arrested, 30, was the uncle of the eight-year-old victim and had opportunities to stay and communicate with the minor.
The Georgian interior ministry has launched an investigation into the case with an article involving "action of sexual nature", the state body told agenda.ge.
The crime is punishable by up to six years in prison.
