Court sentences teacher to pre-trial detention for alleged sexual assault on student

The Ozurgeti District Court has sentenced a school teacher to pre-trial detention, who had allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old student, the local media reported on Sunday.
The Interior Ministry on November 7 arrested the middle-aged man, a sports teacher at one of the public schools in western Georgia’s Lanchkhuti municipality, for alleged sexual assault on one of his students.
The school principal, other teachers and students were interviewed on the case, the Ministry said.
The defence said the detainee pleaded not guilty.
