The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia on Wednesday charged one individual for sexually abusing a minor in an incident that led to the victim’s suicide in the Black Sea city of Batumi on Sunday.
The Office said the alleged offender had “systematically” sexually abused the victim, while also humiliating and verbally insulting her, and “violating her honour and dignity”.
The minor committed suicide by jumping from the 15th floor of a residential building in the city, before law enforcement arrested the alleged offender on Tuesday.
The body also said it would ask Batumi City Court to set preventive detention while the investigation into the case was ongoing.
