Georgian president Salome Zourabichvili on Monday welcomed her country’s “close partnership” during her first working visit to Moldova, the presidential administration said.
“Georgia and Moldova have become close partners on the road to European integration. In these difficult times, our voice needs to remain united”, the Georgian president tweeted.

Zourabichvili will hold meetings with the president of Moldova Maia Sandu and the speaker of the parliament Igor Grosu.
Air Moldova has made its inaugural flight to Georgia, carrying 140 passengers from Chișinău to Tbilisi, TAV Georgia, the operator of Tbilisi and Batumi international airports, said on Monday.
The United States supports the further integration of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia with their European neighbours, Department of State Spokesperson Ned Price said in a briefing on Tuesday.
Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Friday told the United States-based National Public Radio it was “important” the US offer “outspoken” support to Georgia and Moldova while offering help to Ukraine in its defence against the ongoing Russian invasion.
Moldova does not recognise the validity of the so-called “elections” set to take place in the Russian-occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region of Georgia on Sunday, the Moldovan foreign office said on Friday.
Georgian president Salome Zourabichvili on Monday said meeting the European Union’s 12-point conditions for granting the country the membership candidate status was a “challenge” for the country, adding Georgia was not competing with “anyone but itself” in the process.
Challenges facing Georgia and Moldova, the war in Ukraine and its impact on economic and social issues were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Georgian president Salome Zourabichvili and Moldovan prime minister Natalia Gavrilița.
Georgian foreign minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Moldovan president Maia Sandu on Thursday reaffirmed the close friendship and partnership of the two countries, considering their common challenges and goals, including the European Union integration, at the high-level meeting within the framework of Darchiashvili’s visit to Chișinău.
The existing agenda of bilateral relations and the possibility of their deepening, as well as strengthening trade and economic ties, including effective use of opportunities of the free trade regime with the EU, were discussed on Thursday by the Georgian foreign minister Ilia Darchiashvili and the Moldovan prime minister Natalia Gavrilița.
