Traffic will be restored on Melikishvili Avenue, one of the major transport arteries of Georgia’s capital Tbilisi, starting on Tuesday as works for repairs and renovation of road surface and infrastructure are nearing the end after four months, mayor Kakha Kaladze announced on Monday.
Kaladze noted the lower layers of the surface would be finished on Monday evening, with the road opening for traffic in both directions.
The work has also seen a complete replacement of the street’s underground communication network, while installation of new lamp posts and renovation of sidewalks will be finalised by November.
Kaladze said all infrastructure set up on the Avenue, which has been under works since June, would be adapted for people with disabilities.
