Germany is a country that “actively supports” Georgia's European integration and its aspiration to receive the European Union membership candidate status as soon as possible, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili said on Tuesday after a meeting with his German counterpart in Berlin.
In his comments, Darchiashvili noted the meeting with Annalena Baerbock had been “very important” as the officials agreed that Georgia would be on Germany’s international agenda.
I think it will help us to continue working very actively together with our partners to make our European integration even stronger [and] result-oriented”, Darchiashvili said.
The top Georgian diplomat also noted the meeting had focused on the “necessity” of deepening the relations between the two countries, as well as on the “important role” of Germany in the European integration process of Georgia.
Darchiashvili also underlined the significance of a memorandum on cooperation in the culture sector between the two governments.

Our common goal should be to maintain peace in the [South Caucasus] region and I am sure that with joint efforts we will be able to make our region even safer and more attractive”, he concluded.
