Georgian foreign minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Wednesday said the visit of the country’s prime minister to Berlin this week was “very timely and important” and would contribute to the “further strengthening” of relations between the two states.

In his remarks over the visit, Darchiashvili noted Germany, as one of the “powerful countries” among European Union member states, had a “strong voice”, making “intensive cooperation” with it at the political level “very important” for Georgia.

I am sure that the prime minister's official visit to Germany will be a very strong impetus to strengthen our work in the direction of European integration both in a bilateral format and to mobilise our friendly country”, the top Georgian diplomat said.

PM Garibashvili, as part of his visit to Germany, will hold meetings with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
