Ilia II, the Catholicos Patriarch of Georgia, on Friday sent his condolences to the British royal family over the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history, at the age of 96 on Thursday.
The world bids farewell to the most outstanding monarch of our time, the glorious Elizabeth II who dedicated her whole life to the United Kingdom and to her people by her selfless service, and she earned the respect of not only them, but also the entire world”, Ilia II said.
In his statement, Ilia II remembered he had had the “good fortune” to meet Queen Elizabeth II “personally” at Buckingham Palace, which “left an indelible impression” on him.
