A moment of silence was observed on Friday at the Georgian Parliament in memory of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history who passed away at the age of 96 on Thursday.
Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said the death of the monarch was a “great loss” not only for Britain but also for the international community and Georgia.
I am sure that her name and legacy will remain in the memory of history and future generations for a long time”, Papuashvili said before asking MPs to observe the minute of silence during a plenary meeting.
The head of the legislative body said Elizabeth II had been a “friend and supporter of freedom-loving” nations including Georgia, as well as of “our culture and people”.
