The “positive dynamics” of Georgia's implementation of its 2014-signed Association Agenda with the European Union were discussed between Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Sven Mikser, the Rapporteur on Georgia of the European Parliament on Tuesday in Brussels.
At the meeting, held in the framework of the 7th Georgia-EU Association Council, the parties welcomed Georgia's “fruitful cooperation” with the European Parliament and the latter’s firm support for the country’s European integration, sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Georgian foreign office said.

The two officials emphasised the importance of the practice of reports of European Parliament rapporteurs, with Darchiashvili expressing hope the EP would “properly assess” the country’s progress on the path of European integration and contribute to the process of granting the country the European Union membership candidate status.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of the “historic decision” of the European Commission on opening the European perspective for Georgia. Mikser was informed by the Georgian side about the process of implementation of the conditions of the European Commission for granting the country the candidate status.
The parties also said they hoped for a “fruitful discussion” of the perspectives of cooperation between Georgia and the EU at the Association Council meeting, planned to be hosted in Brussels later today. The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili and Josep Borell, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
The conversation with the MEP also touched on the security environment in the Black Sea region and the situation in the Russian-occupied territories of Georgia.
