Close cooperation and friendly relations between Georgia and Belgium were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib.
The officials noted the importance of expanding cooperation in various fields, including the potential of deepening trade and economic ties, the Georgian foreign office said.

The ministers also highlighted the importance of the European Commission's “historic decision” to grant a European perspective to Georgia and expressed their hope that after the implementation of its conditions Georgia would be granted the EU membership candidate status.
They also noted the importance of high-level visits in the process of deepening bilateral relations, with the top Georgian diplomat inviting his Belgian counterpart to Georgia.
