lia Darchiashvili, Georgia’s Foreign Minister, met Rashid Meredov, his counterpart and the Deputy Chair of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, in capital Ashgabat on Tuesday to discuss bilateral and multilateral relations.
Within the framework of the visit of the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili to Turkmenistan, the parties discussed in detail trade-economic, transport, energy, logistics and tourism relations, as well as development of cooperation within international organisations, the Georgian Foreign Ministry’s press office said.
The officials highlighted cooperation within regional transport-transit corridors, noting new opportunities in the direction.
They also stressed the signing of the 2023-2024 cooperation programme between the two ministries would further promote the strengthening of bilateral interaction in foreign policy, expansion of economic ties, and improvement and development of international legal framework.
At the meeting, the officials marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan.
