The deepening of relations, joint projects and the transit potential of Georgia and Turkmenistan were discussed by Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, and Serdar Berdimuhamedow, the President of Turkmenistan, in capital Ashgabat on Wednesday.

The officials emphasised the implementation of strategic projects would increase the efficiency and safety of cargo transportation between Asia and Europe through the Caspian and Black seas, thereby expanding trade and economic relations and promoting the development of interregional connections.
Garibashvili underlined Georgia was investing “heavily” in the construction of new roads and railways, and expanding the capacity of sea ports. He also said the use of the corridor through the Georgian territory to the Black Sea would be “advantageous” for Turkmenistan.
The parties also highlighted strategic partnership in the energy sector, expressing readiness to further deepen the existing cooperation between the states.
