Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Wednesday said the Prime Minister's visits to Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan should “generally contribute” to the cooperation between the South Caucasus region with Central Asian states to maximise economic potential of the sides.
“The visit of the Georgian Prime Minister to Turkmenistan [...] is of special importance as it will contribute to the further strengthening and deepening of our bilateral relations”, Darchiashvili said.
The top Georgian diplomat noted “all the opportunities” of countries involved in the cooperation “should be exploited and strengthened as much as possible”.
He added Garibashvili’s visits to the two countries would serve to “strengthen the economy of our country” and take advantage of Georgia’s potential in the region.
The deepening of relations, joint projects and the transit potential of Georgia and Turkmenistan were discussed by Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, and Serdar Berdimuhamedow, the President of Turkmenistan, in capital Ashgabat on Wednesday.
Ilia Darchiashvili, Georgia’s Foreign Minister, met Rashid Meredov, his counterpart and the Deputy Chair of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, in capital Ashgabat on Tuesday to discuss bilateral and multilateral relations.
Ilia Darchiashvili, the Foreign Minister of Georgia, expects the first official visit of Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili to Uzbekistan to bring a “new impetus” to the development of relations between the two countries and strengthen their cooperation.
Cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan in transport and logistics, and the importance of activating cooperation in the trade and economic spheres were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, noted the country’s transit role in his address this week at the United Nations Ministerial International Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries, an event dedicated to the issues of sustainable transport development.
Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili on Saturday highlighted the long-term relations based on the friendship between Georgia and Uzbekistan at the 9th session of the Georgia-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation in Tashkent, where he has participated along with Jamshid Khodjaev, the Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister.
