The experience and support of the Czech Republic for Georgia’s European integration process will be especially valuable for the country, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said on Monday following a meeting with Miloš Vystrčil, the President of the Czech Senate.

Papuashvili said he had discussed with his Czech counterpart the “long-term friendly and fruitful” cooperation between the two countries in the meeting.

Along with Georgia's progress on the European integration path, sharing the experience and the support of the Czech Republic will be especially valuable for us. We are grateful to the Czech Republic for its support of Georgia's sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-recognition policy [of the occupied regions] and European aspirations,” the head of the Georgian legislative body said.

The current situation in the Black Sea region and Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine were among the principal topics at the meeting, the Georgian official added.

We talked about the complex situation in the [Black Sea] region and the challenges that, in general, the region faces. We also talked, of course, about the Russian aggression against Ukraine. We have once again expressed our solidarity with Ukraine and the Ukrainian people,” Papuashvili concluded.
