Measures to be taken to complete the European Union membership questionnaire submitted to Georgian authorities by the European Commission on Monday were discussed at the 62nd session of the Governmental Commission on EU Integration on Friday.
The meeting was led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, who said the delivery of the questionnaire by the EU imposed a “great responsibility” to his Government to strengthen efforts on the path to country’s membership in the Union.
Garibashvili said “maximum coordination” of all agencies to complete the questionnaire on time and effectively would be required.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili was the main speaker at the sitting that focused on the questionnaire, Government’s Administration said.
Oliver Varhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, handed over the European Union membership questionnaire to the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili on Monday.
The questionnaire contains 369 questions, significantly less than ones received by other EU partners. Previously, forms including about 2,000-5,000 questions were received by countries aspiring to join the Union.
