Irakli Garibashvili, the Georgian Prime Minister, has noted an “important day” for the country with the Foreign Minister set to receive the questionnaire for European Union membership from the European Commissioner.
In comments on the next step of the EU membership application, Garibashvili said the progress made by Georgia in relations with the Union was the “merit” of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, the Government Administration said.
The process has started. Now we will receive the questionnaire. This process requires the highest involvement from all state bodies. I will personally oversee this process, I will be personally involved in it, and we must deliver the completed questionnaire to Brussels as soon as possible,” Garibashvili noted.
The Georgian Government will receive the questionnaire from Oliver Varhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement.
The EU official said the questionnaires would help the European Commission to prepare opinions on EU applications of the applicant countries.
