Police have arrested six individuals in Tbilisi and the western regions of Guria and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said on Wednesday.
The Ministry revealed law enforcement had seized TT- and Geco-model pistols and various other types of firearms, over 70 cartridges, two muzzle loaders, an RGD type hand grenade and other arms during a related search of a house.
Officers also seized an illegally cultivated drug plant during the search of a residential house of one of the offenders, identified only through their initials.
The crimes are punishable by four to 11 years in prison.
