Georgian TV stations receive 79.8 mln GEL commercial advertising revenue in 2021

Commercial advertising revenues of the Georgian broadcasters increased by 30 percent in 2021 compared to the previous year, amounting to 79.8 million GEL ($25.8mln/€23.4mln), the Communications Commission revealed on Monday. 

The regulatory body responsible for broadcasting and electronic communication said commercial advertising revenues of TV stations had increased by 18.4 million GEL ($5.9mln/€5.4mln) compared to last year’s 61.4million GEL ($19.8mln/€18mln). 

The top TV companies by commercial advertising revenue in 2021 were:

  • Imedi TV - 34.3%
  • Mtavari Arkhi - 14.4%
  • Media Holding (former Rustavi 2) - 13.1%
  • TV Pirveli - 8%
  • Formula - 7.2%
  • Post TV - 5.7%
  • Silknet - 4.4%
  • GDS TV - 3.2%
  • Public Broadcaster - 3.1%

In 2021, the total advertising revenues of radio broadcasters in Georgia increased by 0.4 million GEL and amounted to 7.2 million GEL ($2.3mln/€2.1mln).

Commercial revenue includes commercial advertising, sponsorship, product placement, teleshopping, and classifieds.
