The commercial advertising revenue of Georgian broadcasters decreased by 7.6 percent in 2022 compared to the previous year, with the figure reduced to ₾18.4 million ($7mln), the national Communications Commission said on Thursday.
The regulatory body, responsible for broadcasting and electronic communication, said TV stations’ revenue had decreased by 7.8 percent year-on-year to ₾73.6 million ($27.78mln) last year.
It also noted the role of the ban on gambling ads in the reduction, adding gambling companies had been a “major” source of finance for the broadcasters.
For radio outlets, the total advertising revenue decreased by 4.4 percent, to ₾6.3 million ($2.38mln) in 2022.
Commercial revenue measured by the Commission includes commercial advertising, sponsorship, product placement, teleshopping and classifieds.
