Nine fire hotspots remain in western Georgia, helicopter involved

Nine hotspots of fires remain in western Georgia and 350 firefighters with 40 fire trucks and a border police helicopter are trying to extinguish them, the Georgian Emergency Management Service stated earlier today. 

Mostly fields are on fire and strong winds are helping the fires spread. 

Fires have been reported in Racha, Svaneti, Samegrelo and Kharagauli regions. 

257 fires have been reported in Georgia since January 4, 2021. 

248 of the 257 fires have been extinguished.
