Covid-19 ‘green’ passes have come into force in Georgia starting today, obliging the public to present proof of vaccination, testing or recovery from Covid-19 when entering certain establishments.
The ‘green status’ are given to the following groups:
- Fully vaccinated individuals
- Those who have recovered from coronavirus
- Those with negative PCR test certificates conducted within the last 72 hours
- People with negative rapid test results conducted within the last 24 hours
Those with COVID-19 passes will be allowed to enter various types of institutions, such as:
- Food facilities: cafes, restaurants, bars (both open and closed spaces)
- Cinemas
- Theatres
- Opera house
- Museums
- Concert halls
- Entertainment centres
- Casinos, the gambling business facilities
- Spa centres
- Gyms
- Hotels
- Mountain resorts

Restaurants, cafes and bars will operate in Georgia without hourly restrictions starting today due to the introduction of the passes.
Georgia has created two special applications for Covid passes - CovidPass Georgia and Georgia e-Health.
CovidPass Georgia may be used by both Georgian and foreign citizens (who are in Georgia) to attend various events or enter the facilities mentioned above, while Georgia e-Health will be mostly used during travels in foreign countries (by Georgian citizens) to ensure the entry in the 51 countries which are present in the EU digital Covid certification system.
The Georgian Health Ministry says that the Georgia e-Health app may also be used in Georgia to enter the facilities where green Covid passports are required.
The Georgian citizens are also able to take the green passes at justice houses.
Georgia has reported a total of 3,333 new cases of Covid-19, 5,052 recoveries and 56 deaths over the last 24 hours. Out of the new cases 1,333 were reported in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.
Georgia may issue two types of COVID passes for internal and foreign use due to the government’s decision to give the passes to the individuals who have recovered from the virus, no matter when the recovery took place, head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze stated earlier today.
Foreign citizens and individuals with non-resident status in Georgia can now use the health ministry's newly launched application for confirming their Covid-related status during their stay in the country, while the government has also announced venues and establishments the pass will allow access to.
Restaurants, cafes and bars will operate in Georgia without hourly restrictions and the permissible number of spectators at cinemas, theatres and the opera house will increase from 30% to 50%, announces Chief of the Operational Staff of the Interagency Coordination Council, Giorgi Gibradze.
Georgia is expecting to receive special PCR tests from international partners to diagnose the new Omicron variant of coronavirus which was detected in South Africa last month and was classified as a ‘variant of concern’ by the World Health Organization (WHO), Head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze stated earlier today.
Georgia has reported 3,731 new cases of coronavirus, 4,295 recoveries and 72 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Georgia has reported 3,950 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting a total of 54,482 tests over the last 24 hours. Out of the 3,950 new cases 1,657 were reported in Tbilisi. Meanwhile, 2,014 individuals have recovered and 40 patients have died.

Kindergartens in eastern Georgia’s Gurjaani municipality will not resume operation today as scheduled due to rising coronavirus cases, the Association of Gurjaani Preschool Institutions reports.
Co-founder of underground club Bassiani in Tbilisi Naja Orashvili has reported earlier today that night clubs in Georgia will open December 17 ‘after a pause of almost two years.'
The Interagency Coordination Council has not yet decided to open night clubs thus events in the facilities are not allowed, the Labour Inspection Service of Georgia reports in response to the information announced earlier that night clubs in Georgia open on December 17.
Georgia has reported 2,195 new cases of coronavirus, 4,319 recoveries and 47 deaths in the last 24 hours. The weekly positivity rate for tested individuals stands at 6.48%.
Georgian citizens vaccinated with WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines, as well as foreign citizens, have been granted the right to register their vaccination info, thus enabling use of the Georgia e-Health app.
