Covid-19 in Georgia: 3,950 new cases of 54,482 tests

Georgia has reported 3,950 new cases of Covid-19 after conducting a total of 54,482 tests over the last 24 hours.
Out of the 3,950 new cases 1,657 were reported in Tbilisi.
Other cases were reported in:

- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 274
- Kvemo Kartli - 222
- Kakheti - 208
- Adjara - 152
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 134
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 126
- Guria - 108
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 40
Meanwhile, 2,014 individuals have recovered and 40 patients have died.
As of now the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus stands at 861,883 since the first case was confirmed in February 2020. This includes 801,864 recoveries, 12,298 deaths and 47,695 active cases of Covid-19.
Police have arrested two doctors for making and selling fake Covid-19 vaccination documents today, reports the State Security Service of Georgia (SSS).
Covid-19 ‘green’ passes have come into force in Georgia starting today, obliging the public to present proof of vaccination, testing or recovery from Covid-19 when entering certain establishments. Restaurants, cafes and bars will operate in Georgia without hourly restrictions starting today due to the introduction of the passes.
Georgian and foreign citizens travelling from eight countries, including South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatin (Swaziland), Mozambique and Malawi, will need to quarantine for 14 days following the emergence of Covid-19 variant in South Africa.
Georgia may issue two types of COVID passes for internal and foreign use due to the government’s decision to give the passes to the individuals who have recovered from the virus, no matter when the recovery took place, head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze stated earlier today.
