July 2021: number of international visits up 403.7% in Georgia

A total of 695,000 international visits have been carried out to Georgia in January-July 2021 which is a 45.5% decrease compared to the same period of last year, and 83% decrease compared to January-July 2019, announces the Georgian National Tourism Administration.
In July 2021 alone, a total of 230,900 international visits were carried out in the country, registering the highest rate during the pandemic period. The number of international visits increased 403.7% year-on-year, however decreased 73.8% compared to July 2019.
The top three countries from where visits have been carried out in July were:
- Turkey - 35,000 visits (+91.3%)
- Russia - 25,100 visits (+497.9%)
- Ukraine - 24,500 visits (+1,932%)
Other countries from where most visits have been carried out were Armenia (19,700 visits), Israel (17,600 visits), Georgia (non-residents, 15,000 visits), Saudi Arabia (12,900 visits), Kazakhstan (9,500 visits), Belarus (9,400 visits), and Azerbaijan, (8,400 visits).
Statistics show that 60% of the visits were made by air, 39% by land, 0.8% by rail and 0.2% by sea.
In January-June 2021 Georgia received $299.8 million which is 34% less compared to the same period of 2020.
To compare, in the same period of 2019 revenues from international tourism reached $1.46 billion in Georgia.

Jordanian airline company Fly Jordan will resume flights to Georgia starting August 12, announces the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency. Fly Jordan will connect the Jordanian capital of Amman to Georgia's Black Sea resort town of Batumi. The flights will be carried out until September 30 once a week, on Thursdays.
In Georgia 1,054 hotels were operating in 2020 featuring 26,897 rooms in total, official statistics from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) show. Geostat says that the total number of rooms decreased by 23.4% year-on-year.

Georgia hosted 266,544 visitors in August 2021 which is a 510% increase compared to the same month of 2020, however it is still 75% less compared to August 2019, says the Georgian National Tourism Administration. "Accordingly, the number of visitors to Georgia in August was restored by only 24.5% of the 2019 figure", says the administration.
A total of 1,881,271 international travellers visited Georgia in 2021, an increase of 7.7% compared to 2020, the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) reports.
Visits by international travelers to Georgia reached the figure of 199,393 in January, making a 38 percent increase compared to the same month in 2019, and a 471 percent growth compared to January 2021, the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) said earlier on Thursday.
A total of 165,626 international travellers visited Georgia in February 2022, marking a 35.3 percent recovery from the pre-pandemic 2019 figures and an increase of 297 percent compared to 2021, the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) announced on Friday.
