Georgia hosts 1.8 mln international travellers in 2021

A total of 1,881,271 international travellers visited Georgia in 2021, an increase of 7.7% compared to 2020, the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) reports.
It also states that in 2021 international tourist revenue in Georgia reached 1,244,941,717 billion USD, noting that 38% of revenue has been recovered since the economic slowdown resulting from pandemic-related restrictions.
The recovery of revenue from international tourism compared to 2019 is moving at a rapid pace on a monthly basis,” the GNTA says.
It further notes that revenue growth in 2021 exceeds 130% compared to 2020.
Overall 1,577,463 international tourist visits took place in Georgia in 2021.
The highest number of visitors who came to Georgia in 2021 were from:
- Turkey - 326,494 (-3%)
- Russia - 212,979 (+2)
- Armenia - 164,698 (-37%)
- Georgia (non-resident) - 151,559 (+8%)
- Ukraine - 144,901 (+242%)
- Israel - 100,686 (+291%)
- Azerbaijan - 82,718 (-72%)
- Kazakhstan - 66,787 (+385%)
- Saudi Arabia - 63,437 (+1179%)
- Belarus - 53,698 (+275%)
