Georgian judoka Lasha Shavdatuashvili, 29, has won silver in a lengthy nine-minute match with one of judo's top fighters, Japan’s Shohei Ono, earlier today.
Shavdatuashvili is the only Georgian judoka (-73kg) who has won European, World and Olympic gold medals.

He has won three Olympic medals so far: gold at the 2012 Olympic Games, bronze in 2016 and now silver.
Earlier this year he won the world championship in judo.

This is Georgia’s second medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Georgian judoka Lasha Shavdatuashvili has claimed gold at the World Judo Championships Seniors in the Hungarian capital of Budapest earlier today. Datuashvili, 29, has handed defeat to his Swedis rival Tommy Macias in the under 73kg category.
Georgia has come away from the Paris Grand Slam tournament with four medals. Georgian judokas received two silver and two bronze medals. The Paris Grand Slam tournament was held over the weekend from Saturday through Sunday.

In the finals Georgian Kajaia will wrestle against 38 years old Cuban Lopen Nunez who has won the Olympic gold medal three times in his career.
