Georgia to start Covid-19 vaccination in prisons today

Covid-19 vaccination of prisoners has started today in Georgia, reports the Georgian Justice Ministry.

Inmates in Rustavi Prison Colony #5, Geguti prison in west Georgia and, Gldani prison #8 will be vaccinated today.

As of now, a total of 240 prisoners have expressed their desire to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

The vaccination process is being carried out under the supervision of medical workers, in full compliance with the recommendations of the Health Ministry. Ambulance vehicles and doctors are mobilized at penitentiary institutions to respond quickly to any possible complication or side effects of the vaccine”, reports the press office of the Georgian Justice Ministry.

Vaccination will gradually be carried out in all penitentiary institutions of Georgia.

Georgia started coronavirus vaccination in mid-March when the country received the first 43,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine.

As of now, Georgia is using AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines for certain groups of people.
