“Over 55 per cent of prisoners have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in penitential facilities in Georgia, where the epidemiological situation is under control”, Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia said today.

Gabunia also said that about 62 per cent of penitentiary staff have also been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, noting that the ‘probability of transmission of the infection is quite low in such conditions’ in penitentiary facilities.

More than 13 per cent of Georgia’s adult population has been fully vaccinated as of August 29.

789,948 (27.3 per cent of the country’s adult population) have received at least one dose of the vaccine, of which 383,454 (13.4 per cent) individuals have been fully-vaccinated.
