23 out of 329 female inmates have tested positive for coronavirus after conducting PCR tests at No. 5 penitentiary facility in Georgia.
The Special Penitentiary Service has announced earlier today that all of the infected individuals have no specific symptoms and feel well. However, they are in quarantine now.
Meanwhile, 22 inmates have tested negative for coronavirus at No. 11 penitentiary facility on December 31.
Georgia has reported 2,316 new cases of coronavirus, 382 recoveries and 18 deaths over the last 24 hours. A total of 14,511 tests have been conducted throughout the country including 9,300 rapid tests and 5,211 PCR tests.
Georgia also reported the new strain of coronavirus that originated in the United Kingdom yesterday.
