23 out of 329 female inmates have tested positive for coronavirus after conducting PCR tests at No. 5 penitentiary facility in Georgia.
The Special Penitentiary Service has announced earlier today that all of the infected individuals have no specific symptoms and feel well. However, they are in quarantine now.
Meanwhile, 22 inmates have tested negative for coronavirus at No. 11 penitentiary facility on December 31.
Georgia has reported 2,316 new cases of coronavirus, 382 recoveries and 18 deaths over the last 24 hours. A total of 14,511 tests have been conducted throughout the country including 9,300 rapid tests and 5,211 PCR tests.
Georgia also reported the new strain of coronavirus that originated in the United Kingdom yesterday.
Georgia has reported 2,316 new cases of coronavirus, 382 recoveries and 18 deaths in the past 24 hours. 6,620 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia as of today, while the figure stood at 20,393 on November 28, 2020 when the government imposed further restrictions to curb the spread of the virus until January 31, 2021. 14,511 tests have been conducted in the past 24 hours around the country. 9,300 of the 14,511 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 5,211 were PCR tests.
Georgia has reported the new strain of coronavirus that originated in the United Kingdom earlier today.
Georgia has reported 594 new cases of coronavirus, 1,963 recoveries and 25 deaths in the past 24 hours. 3,845 tests have been conducted in the past 24 hours around the country due to the weekend. 2,199 of the 3,845 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 1,646 were PCR tests. Georgia has had 229,763 cases of coronavirus since February. 222,405 of the 229,763 individuals have recovered, while 2,628 others have died.
A new study by the University of Lausanne for the Council of Europe says that during the first nine months of 2020 there were no Covid-19 cases detected among inmates and staff in Georgian prisons.
Georgia has reported 1,800 new cases of coronavirus, 489 recoveries and 20 deaths in the past 24 hours. 14,839 tests have been conducted in the past 24 hours around the country. 8,253 of the 14,839 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 6,586 were PCR tests. An inmate in Ksani Penitentiary Facility No. 15 has died of coronavirus, Justice Minister Gocha Lortkipanidze said earlier today.

Four of 46 inmates checked for coronavirus on January 6 in Tbilisi tested positive, reports the Special Penitentiary Service.
“Over 55 per cent of prisoners have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 in penitential facilities in Georgia, where the epidemiological situation is under control”, Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia said today.
