Georgia reports 1,433 new cases of coronavirus of 29,024 tests

Georgia has reported 1,433 new cases of coronavirus, 1,160 recoveries and 18 deaths in the past 24 hours.
29,024 tests have been conducted around the country on the weekend. 11,185 of the 29,024 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 17,839 were PCR tests.
The country has had 308,834 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.
4.94 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.

289,976 of the 308,834 patients have recovered, while 4,095 have died from the virus.
Currently 14,737 individuals remain infected with Covid-19.
The new 1,433 cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 904 cases
- Adjara - 146 cases
- Imereti - 79 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 54 cases
- Shida Kartli - 39 cases
- Guria - 31 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 99 cases
- Kakheti - 45 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 28 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 8 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti - 0 case

3,765 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 728 of the 3,765 patients are in critical condition. 158 of the 728 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.
More than 4,156,000 tests have been conducted in the country so far.
Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze says that as in many countries of the world a third wave of Covid-19 has started in Georgia as well.
A week following Orthodox Easter on May 4-11 has been declared public holiday in Georgia to curb the possible spread of the coronavirus. The interagency commission led by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has also given out the recommendation to employers to move to remote work.
Health Minister Ekaterine Tikaradze has stated that Georgia is expecting to receive one million doses of Pfizer vaccine in summer. Minister Tikaradze who addressed the parliament earlier today also told MPs that negotiations are also underway for Johnson & Johnson and Moderna vaccines.
The Georgian government has imposed several coronavirus restrictions ahead of the Easter holidays which is marked on May 2 this year. According to the government decision municipal transport will not work across Georgia between 3-12 May. Roads to cemeteries will be closed by police during the holiday to prevent assemblies there. Churchgoers will have to obverse coronavirus rules during the Easter liturgy on May 1-2.
Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani has thanked his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó for his contribution in ensuring the safe transportation of Chinese vaccines to Georgia. "I’m very grateful to you, dear Péter, for your contribution to ensure the safe transportation of Covid-19 vaccines to Georgia”, FM Zalkaliani wrote in response to Szijjártó in Facebook.
Georgia has reported 1,476 new cases of coronavirus, 791 recoveries and 15 deaths in the past 24 hours. In total 27,895 tests have been conducted around the country on the weekend of which 11,090 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 16,805 were PCR tests.
