As of today, 57,000 individuals have registered on a special website created by the Georgian Health Ministry to find out the number of those wishing to get vaccinated against coronavirus.
The majority (54,524) said they would want to be vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.
26,118 people prefer to be vaccinated with Moderna, 10,937 – with AstraZeneca, 7,467 – with Johnson & Johnson, 5,127 – with Novovax, 3,016 – with Sinopharm, and 680 – with Sinovac.
To register on the website, it is necessary for an individual to answer a few mandatory questions and then choose maximum three out of seven different vaccines: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Novovax, Sinopharm, Sinovac.
As soon as Covid-19 vaccine will be available for an individual, he/she will receive a notification on the mobile number or e-mail address indicated in the questionnaire.
The purpose of pre-registration on https://www.moh.gov.ge/covid-chart/register/ is to obtain information on the number of people (Georgians, individuals with residency permits) wishing to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country.
European Union Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell has congratulated Georgia on the arrival of the 43,200 doses of Covid-19 vaccine earlier today. The first 43,200 doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine arrived in Georgia this morning.
The National Democratic Institute (NDI) and CRRC Georgia have released a recent poll which says that Georgians remain concerned about economic challenges (72%) and, for the first time, Covid-19 (16%). Per the results released by NDI Georgia which were collected between December 17- 24, 2020, 39% of Georgians think the worst is yet to come from the pandemic, and almost half (41%) continue to have reservations with regard to vaccination rollout.
The Georgian government expects to have vaccinated 60% of the country by the end of 2021, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia announced at today's government meeting. Gakharia said that high risk groups will be vaccinated at the first stage.
Georgia has reported 521 new cases of coronavirus, 1,058 recoveries and 18 deaths in the past 24 hours. 11,226 tests have been conducted around the country on the weekend. 3,463 of the 11,226 tests were rapid tests, while the remaining 7,763 were PCR tests. The country has had 304,272 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020. 4.03 per cent of tested individuals had Covid-19 in the past 14 days.
Georgia will receive 100,000 doses of China's Sinovac vaccine today, announces Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia. She said that the use of Sinovac will start after it receives authorisation from the World Health Organisation, however, if this process is delayed, Georgian health officials will discuss how the vaccine might be used in the country.
