Coronavirus: Georgia reports 4,260 new cases, 2,947 recoveries, 45 deaths

Georgia has reported 4,260 new cases of coronavirus, 2,947 recoveries and 45 deaths in the past 24 hours.
21,655 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia as of today.
The new 4,260 cases were recorded in:
- Tbilisi - 1,676 cases
- Adjara - 525 cases
- Imereti - 591 cases
- Kvemo Kartli - 351 cases
- Shida Kartli - 294 cases
- Guria - 131 cases
- Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti - 274 cases
- Kakheti - 166 cases
- Mtskheta-Mtianeti - 134 cases
- Samtskhe-Javakheti - 88 cases
- Racha-Lechkhumi, Kvemo Svaneti - 30 cases

Georgia has had 147,636 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020.
Since then 124,568 individuals have recovered, while 1,387 others have died.
6,561 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,027 of the 6,561 patients are in critical condition. 390 of the 1,027 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.
3,867 Covid-19 patients are in hotels, 1,974 individuals are in quarantine and 11,227 are at home.
50,544 individuals are in self-isolation.
More than 1,207,000 tests have been made in Georgia so far.
Treatment of a coronavirus patient in hospital costs on average 2,000 GEL which does not include investments in oxygen stocks and staff training, said Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia says that the government-imposed coronavirus restrictions until January 31 aim to ensure a normal way of living starting February 1.
Deputy Head of the Task Force under the Interagency Coordination Council Berdia Sichinava announced earlier today that the group is responsible for ensuring the timely import of the vaccines and to supervise infrastructural and logistics processes.
Starting today the Georgian government will ensure 20,000 daily coronavirus tests around the country to reveal new infections and curb the spread of the virus in a timely fashion. Large-scale testing will continue until February 1, 2021. Tests conducted by private clinics and labs will be added to the 20,000 tests. Rapid tests will be actively used in the process,” said the government, adding that testing will also ensure proper hospitalisation of critical patients.
Georgia has reported 4,033 new cases of coronavirus, 4,061 recoveries and 39 deaths in the past 24 hours. 20,387 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia as of today. Georgia has had 143,376 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020. Since then 121,621 individuals have recovered, while 1,342 others have died. 6,397 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 1,058 of the 6,397 patients are in critical condition. 466 of the 1,058 critical patients are on artificial ventilation.
The family of 19-year-old Tekla Tordia, who has died of coronavirus, claims the death was caused by delayed hospitalisation. Tekla’s mother Irma Tordia told Rustavi 2 TV that her daughter was initially sent to a special Covid-hotel which did not even have medical oxygen, but the family was told that there were no places at hospitals.
Georgia reported 5,068 new cases of coronavirus earlier today: a record-high figure since the country confirmed its first case of the virus on February 26, 2020.Earlier this week the government announced large-scale testing of the public, about 20,000 individuals on a daily basis, to reveal new infections in a timely fashion and prevent the further spread of the virus. The process will continue until February 1, 2021. Georgia has had 152,704 cases of coronavirus since February.
