Coronavirus infiltrates Kutaisi nursing home with close to 100 residents

Coronavirus has spread to a nursing home of the west Georgian city of Kutaisi in the Imereti region.
Three residents and ten employees of Kutaisi nursing home have tested positive for the coronavirus, after which they were brought to Sachkhere Medical Center.
In total 98 people live in the nursing home.
A quarantine has been declared in the building. Meanwhile some residents are waiting for the results of coronavirus tests.
The administration of the institution thinks that the virus spread from an employee who had no symptoms but was infected with the virus.

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, who tested positive for coronavirus earlier this week, has stated that the country needs to broaden the scale of local coronavirus restrictions to make the measure more effective amid election-related street protests.Gakharia said earlier today in an online conference that the opposition demonstrations are expected to cause a sharp increase in new cases of coronavirus.
Georgia has reported 2,401 new cases of coronavirus, 2,289 recoveries and 20 deaths in the past 24 hours. 15,332 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia as of today.Georgia has had 49,218 cases of coronavirus since February 26, 2020. Since then 33,459 individuals have recovered, while 401 others have died. 4,489 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals as of today. 638 of the 4,489 patients are in critical condition. 293 of the 638 critical patients are on artificial ventilation. 1,127 Covid-19 patients are in hotels, while 3,160 individuals are in quarantine.
Georgia has reported 2,295 new cases of coronavirus, of which 989 were registered in the capital city of Tbilisi, 387 in the Black Sea Adjara region and 387 in the Imereti region. Since February 26, the day when the coronavirus case was first registered in Georgia, the country has reported 381 death cases. As of today 15,240 individuals remain infected with Covid-19 in Georgia.
Nursing home Savane, have 11 people recovered from the coronavirus, out of which the oldest are an 80-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man.
Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air, Latvian flag carrier AirBaltic and Georgian Airways have made changes to their flight schedules amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Civic Aviation Agency calls on the citizens to plan their flights carefully and to take into consideration the coronavirus-related restrictions published by official, verified sources.

One out of 125 coronavirus-infected individuals die in Georgia, said Deputy Head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) Paata Imnadze.
