Kindergartens will close in Tbilisi starting tomorrow, said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze earlier today.

The decision was made due to severe epidemiological situation in the city.

Kindergartens will temporarily close starting tomorrow until the epidemic situation improves," said Kaladze.

This decision will not apply to private kindergartens, as well as kindergartens operating in other cities of Georgia, and at this stage they continue operating as usual.

Kindergartens opened on October 12 throughout Georgia except in the Adjara region and Ozurgeti municipality, as most of the newly infected cases of coronavirus were recorded in those areas for that period.

Out of Tbilisi’s 183 kindergartens, four did not open on October 12 as personnel tested positive for the coronavirus, while forty-two kindergartens have been closed in several days after their opening as teachers and kindergarteners tested positive for the coronavirus.
